Whether you get it in the morning or not, morning sickness can be an unpleasant side-affect of pregnancy. Most women experience queasiness to some degree while others can be downright sick, experiencing vomiting daily.

There are a few tips you can use to help alleviate morning sickness:

  1. Keep your blood sugar on an even keel by eatiing smaller frequent meals. Try to have a small meal evary 2 1/2 to 3 hours, instead of three bigger meals a day.
  2. Eat quality protein with each meal. Protein will also help your blood sugar level.
  3. Stay well hydrated - drink at least 8 8oz glasses of water a day.
  4. Avoid fried foods or foods high in saturated fat.
  5. Ginger and peppermint can help with stomach problems and can be found in many herbal teas that are safe during pregnancy. You might also try ginger candies.
  6. Remember that your not actually eating for two. While you do need an increase in calories (generally around 300 per day), this is not much. Overeating can contribute to nausea and extra pregnancy weight gain.

If all else fails, consult your doctor. There are some nausea medications that are safe during yoru pregnancy.
